Project Scope
The goal of this project is to design an assistive device that can be used as a training tool to develop lower body strength and mobility. This tool would be created specifically for use by children ages 1 to 3 years old who have moderate to severe motor impairments. The prototype must allow for proper body alignment of the child by providing trunk support and promoting proper head positioning. The device must be durable, allowing for daily use, and safe for children. The device must be portable and tailored for in-home use. The goal is for the mobility training to be done under parental supervision outside of the clinic. A working prototype will signify the completion of the project and will be provided to Dr. Courtney Dunn and the family we are working with.
